Privacy Policy
Version 2.0 Effective Date: July 17, 2026
ConfettiEdits is designed so that your work stays on your machine. This policy explains exactly what information we collect, what we never collect, and which third-party services we rely on.
Your Documents Never Leave Your Machine
ConfettiEdits processes Word documents and .confetti template files entirely on your local computer. Document content, specification text, template decision logic, and questionnaire answers are never transmitted to our servers or to any third party.
The only network communication the software performs is:
- License validation — your license key and a machine fingerprint
- Update checking — your installed software version
Nothing else is sent. There is no telemetry on your documents, no cloud processing, and no account of what you write.
What We Collect and Store
To manage your subscription and license, we store only the following:
- Your Stripe Customer ID (provided by Stripe after purchase)
- Your subscription status (active, cancelled, etc.)
- License keys associated with your subscription
- Machine fingerprints used for license activation (a hardware-derived identifier; it contains no personal information and cannot be used to access your computer)
- Company name, if you provided one at checkout
We do not store your email address in our own systems. Your email is held by Stripe (for billing) and appears in Amazon AWS email delivery records, as described below.
We retain this information for as long as necessary to manage your subscription and comply with legal obligations.
Third-Party Services
Stripe — Processes all payments and manages billing. Stripe stores your billing details, name, email address, and payment information; we never see or store your card number. Stripe also hosts the subscription management portal where you can update your payment method or cancel. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
Amazon AWS (Simple Email Service) — Delivers your welcome and license key emails. While we don’t permanently store email addresses in our systems, AWS maintains records of sent emails, including recipient addresses, to ensure delivery and support troubleshooting. See AWS data protection practices.
Google Firebase / Firestore — Securely stores the subscription and license information listed above, with industry-standard encryption. Used solely for license validation and subscription management. See Firebase’s Privacy Policy.
Sentry — Collects error reports when the software encounters a problem, helping us identify and fix issues. Reports may include device information, operating system details, and technical error context. We do not intentionally collect personal information or any user-created content through error reporting, and error data is used solely for debugging and improving software stability. See Sentry’s Privacy Policy.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely to:
- Validate your subscription status
- Manage license key activation
- Deliver your license keys and installation instructions
- Notify you of important account or software issues
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone for marketing purposes. We do not use your information to train AI models, and we do not permit third parties to do so.
Data Deletion
To request deletion of your information after your subscription ends, contact us through our contact page. We will remove your records from our systems, except where retention is required for tax, accounting, or legal purposes. Note that Stripe retains payment records independently in accordance with financial regulations.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the version number and effective date above. Continued use of ConfettiEdits after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
